About the project
Pioneering Sustainable Maritime Research
Climate change is real, and everyone is aware of it. All sectors, including shipping, must go green. As a team of 15 engineering students, we aim to drive change by advancing sustainable and innovative solutions. We do this by developing a sustainable, solar-powered boat.
This year, we're taking a bold step by making our boat fully autonomous, competing in the new AI class at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge. This milestone ushers in a new era for our team and enables us to contribute to cutting-edge research.
Additionally, we are developing a testing platform made from natural fibers to refine systems before implementation, furthering research into sustainable materials.
Together, we strive to shape a greener future.

At the UAntwerp Solar Boat Team, open source plays a crucial role. The open source model promotes the free exchange of ideas and accelerates technological progress through collaboration. This allows teams to optimize their performance and gain valuable knowledge. Not only is the race against the each other is fascinating, but also how the open source culture stimulates innovation and advances sustainable maritime practices.
